Take the D49 towards Lac de Ste Croix on the D957 which connects Aups to
Moustiers Ste Marie.
Near the fountain Vauclusienne resurgence of fontaine l’Evêque now submerged under the waters of Lake St. Croix was a Neolithic funerary vessel. Bauduen comes from its position at the foot of a "Bau" cave or cliff in Provençal, its derivatives were "Balduini castri" Castro baldonium, Bauduengn, Beaudun and finally bauduen. At the lake of Ste Croix, the village develops arc, offering visitors its typical Provencal streets of the Haut Var.
Roman presence has left its traces through the terminals of Antoninus, as the line of the Roman road linking Fréjus to Riez going at the edge of the village, as evidenced graves and fragments of pottery discovered in the district of St Bartholomew . An Abbey Chanoinesses is based in 1255 by the Bishop of Riez, called St. Catherine of Sorps, she finally abandoned in 1437. In 1549 the villagers revolted against their lord and reduced the village to ashes. In the early nineteenth century mills and paper mills installed in the village and its surroundings close.
